Ouarzazate has about 98,500 inhabitants and is located south-east of Marrakech at about 4 hours driving distance between the High Atlas and the Anti-Atlas.

In Ouarzazate is the largest film studio in the world called Atlas Studios. Several well-known films were recorded in this studio. The city is called the "Hollywood of Morocco". Famous films such as "Sex in the City 2" and "The Jewel of the Nile" and "Gladiator" are included there.

To the east of Ouarzazate lies El Mansour Eddahbi, an additional lake of several kilometers long.

Ouarzazate has one of the largest solar power stations in the world. In February 2016, the first part of the power station was inaugurated by King Mohammed VI and thus became part of the energy plan of Morocco. Ouarzazate is a quiet provincial town with wide streets, many hotels and various parks and gardens. It lies at an altitude of 1160 m, at the crossroads of the Draa Valley and the Dade. The Atlas film studios are 6 km away from Ouarzazate. This is a gigantic studio complex that extends over more than 30,000 m² of desert. The studios are open to the public, and if you visit, you may be lucky enough to make film recordings. The city is a favorite stopping point for tourists on their way to the Sahara desert. Most of them store their supplies here for their journey to the desert.

Ouarzazate hat etwa 98.500 Einwohner und liegt südöstlich von Marrakesch in ca. 4 Stunden Fahrzeit zwischen dem Hohen Atlas und dem Antiatlas.

In Ouarzazate befindet sich das größte Filmstudio der Welt, die Atlas Studios. Mehrere bekannte Filme wurden in diesem Studio aufgenommen. Die Stadt wird "Hollywood von Marokko" genannt. Berühmte Filme wie "Sex in the City 2" und "Das Juwel des Nils" und "Gladiator" sind dort enthalten.

Im Osten von Ouarzazate liegt El Mansour Eddahbi, ein weiterer See von mehreren Kilometern Länge.
