We start our day trip in Marrakech. We'll pick you up from your hotel or from the airport.

We start this beautiful day trip at 9:00 am and first drive towards Lake Takerkoust south of the village of Lalla Takerkoust.

Then we head towards the village of Asni where Sir Richard Branson has his beautiful hotel. After seeing the falls it is possible to enjoy lunch there.

In Imlil we are about two hours after we left Marrakech.

Of course it's possible during the trip to make a stop at a house of a Berber family.

Time to stretch your legs and remove the camera from the bag, because you really have to take a few nice pictures of the falls.

The beautiful surroundings are also worth a photo.

After having climbed and photographed enough, it is time for lunch.

You can of course take this in Imlil or else in hotel Tamadot (please make a reservation).

After lunch it's time to head back to Marrakech, possibly with a stop at Lake Takerkoust.

Between half past five and half past six we hope to be in Marrakech again.

Imlil is a small village in the high Atlas Mountains of Morocco at an altitude of 1800 meters. It is close to the Toubkal mountain, the highest peak in North Africa (over 4000 meters).

Imlil is a good base for climbing Toubkal, since it is at the end of the asphalted road and is a natural place to hire mountain guides and mules for the further trek. Imlil is the center of mountain tourism in Morocco because of its unique position. Imlil is connected to Asni via a draw path.

Open-back trucks offer a bus service between these three villages several times a week.

Before the arrival of mountain tourism, the Imlil area was known for its production of walnuts, apples and cherries. Although these are still important for the local economy, they are overshadowed by tourism. Both mountain tourists and Moroccans come to Imlil in search of cool lighting.

The film "Seven years in Tibet" was partly filmed in the village.

On 17 August 1995, after an enormous rain shower, the village of Imlil was catastrophically flooded in just 2.5 hours and the surrounding valleys washed away. Official figures report that around 150 people, including 20-60 tourists, were killed. Forty vehicles parked near the river were washed away. The villagers suffered significant losses in food supplies and agricultural land, as well as an exhausted tourist industry during the coming months. However, the Moroccan government was quick to free up access to the village via the blocked mountain road in four days. By 2000, the village was still not normal, with large areas of previously cultivated land still buried in floods. Many of their walnut trees were also washed away in the flood.

Asni is a small village at the foot of the mountain towards Imlil and about half an hour's drive from Imlil.

At Asni you will find Sir Richard Branson's famous Tamadot hotel.

Imlil ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt, um Toubkal zu besteigen, da es am Ende der asphaltierten Straße liegt und ein natürlicher Ort ist, um Bergführer und Maultiere für die weitere Wanderung zu mieten. Imlil ist aufgrund seiner einzigartigen Lage das Zentrum des Bergtourismus in Marokko. Imlil ist über einen Zeichenpfad mit Asni verbunden.

Open-Back-Trucks bieten mehrmals pro Woche eine Busverbindung zwischen diesen drei Dörfern an.

Vor der Ankunft des Bergtourismus war die Gegend von Imlil für die Produktion von Walnüssen, Äpfeln und Kirschen bekannt. Imlil is een klein dorp in het hoge Atlasgebergte van Marokko op een hoogte van1800 meter. Het ligt dicht bij de berg Toubkal, de hoogste piek in Noord-Afrika (ruim 4000 meter). 

Imlil is een goede uitvalsbasis om Toubkal te beklimmen, omdat het aan het einde van de geasfalteerde weg ligt en is een natuurlijke plek om berggidsen en muilezels in te huren voor de verdere trektocht. Imlil is het centrum van bergtoerisme in Marokko vanwege zijn unieke positie. Imlil is verbonden met Asni via een trekpad. 

Open-back trucks bieden meerdere keren per week een busdienst tussen deze drie dorpen aan.
